Join New Orleans-inspired jazz band Boukou Groove and Restaurant FIRE to at the “A Lil’ Boukou in Your Cup” CD release party on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. The public is invited to join Boukou Groove founders, guitarist Derwin “Big D” Perkins and singer, keyboardist, and Moog bass player Donnie Sundal, for a night celebrating their first CD, “A Lil’ Boukou in Your Cup” and for the filming of their documentary by VIEtv.

The event, which will take place at Restaurant FIRE’s Gulf Place location just off scenic Hwy. 30-A, is free and open to the public. Take a short drive over from Panama City Beach and hear some great jazz, have some great food, and have a great time!

Jamison Ross, winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Drums Competition, will sit in on the drums with Perkins and Sundal as a special guest performer. Restaurant FIRE will feature a special prix fixe New Orleans–inspired menu and cocktail list for attendees, and artists Heidi Pitre and Andy Saczynski will be present to feature pieces from their current collections.

“A Lil’ Boukou in Your Cup” will be sold at the event for $15, with $1 from each sale benefiting Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s new Judy and Steve Turner Heart and Vascular Center. There is also a bicycle being raffled off from Big Daddy’s Bike Shop for $5.00 per ticket! For the special price of $20, you will receive a CD and 2 raffle tickets, and donations will also be accepted.

Videographers Ben Rosenau and Tim Dutrow of VIEtv will be on-site filming for the upcoming Boukou Groove documentary. The VIEtv documentary, currently under production, profiles the creation of Boukou Groove’s new album and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s creative process. Live shows, in-studio interviews and an assortment of other footage will be strung together to illustrate the bonds between band members, the recording process and the overall story of Boukou Groove and Neptone Recording Studio.
